Bengaluru : Bangalore outside 200 labourers with a steel manufacturing factory near Hoskote have alleges the management did not pay their salary for March and kept them inside the premises without maintaining social distance.
The incident came to light on Friday when the labourers approached Avalahalli Gram Panchayat.
Mamata, a panchayat development officer had told police that the panchayat officials had visited VRKP Steels Company unit in Cheemasandra village on same day.
“The factory itself is running illegally at Cheemasandra village and having done work with more than 200 migrated labourers. Few labourers approached us and filed complaint. A team of Gram Panchayat officials visited the factory on same day and Saturday. I have noticed the employees inside the factory premises without maintaining any social distance. It looks like the management did not pay wages as the labourers said,” Mamata stated in her complaint with police.
Avalahalli police have registered a case against owner, manage and in-charge persons of the company. “We have book them under the provision of The Disaster Management Act 2005 and sections 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 271 (disobedience of quarantine rule), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) against the suspects.
Police said that they have launched investigation and will inform the labour department about the delay or denial of wages if the management did so. Further probe is underway.
