The world is facing the heat of economic slowdown due to lockdown due to Coronavirus pandemic for over four months including India which is in its third phase of lockdown fighting the deadly virus.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation announced a special economic package worth 20 lakh crore which is equivalent to nation’s 10 per cent of the GDP, which is to revive and boost the economy towards India becoming ‘Atmanirbharbharat’ meaning Self Reliant India, a route map to set an example to the world in these difficult times.
“Corona crisis is unprecedented. We cannot budge. We have to save ourselves and move ahead. We need to strengthen our resolve. We have to see this from India’s perspective. It is our dream and responsibility to ensure 21st century is ours,” Modi said.
About, Atmanirbhar Bharat, the economic package, the Prime Minister stressed that it is based on five essential pillars – Economy, Infrastructure, Our System (Technology Driven), Demography and Demand. Further, he adds that land, liquidity, labour and law has been given emphasis in the economic package.
“The package is aimed at every section of the society, right from farmers, small scale industries, middle class section, workers and more.”
Previously, he stressed that when the crisis started then not even a single PPE kit was manufactured in India, only a few N-95 masks were available. But, today, two Lakh PPE kits and two Lakh N95 masks are manufactured in India daily, he adds.
On Lockdown 4, he hinted that the citizens will be made aware of new and improved guidelines to fight COVID-19 by May 18.
