Golaghat (Assam): Total lockdown in Golaghat town from Thursday evening for 8 days will be imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Corona tally reached 617 in Golaghat district. The order is issued by Golaghat District Magistrate Bibhash Chandra Modi, the “total lockdown” will remain in force till 7 pm of July 17.” There has been a sudden rise in covid cases. Unless strict measures are imposed it is not possible to control the spread of coronavirus,” the district magistrate said. During the lockdown period movement of all vehicles including and private will be banned, he said.
Neighboring Jorhat district administration had on Wednesday decided to impose total lockdown across the city from Thursday to check the spread of coronavirus. To prevent the spread of the virus, a 2- week lockdown from June 28 is underway in Kamrup Metropolitan district which comprises Guwahati city.
