Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh : A shop keeper named Karan Rajput was attacked by sarpanch Prakash Rajput and his men for telling the surveyor about government welfare schemes not reaching the beneficiaries in the village. He suffered several fractures in the attack. His right ear has been stitched due to severe injury caused by the attack.
Karan told the police “ on July 20 a woman surveyor asked me some questions during a survey about the government benefit schemes reaching the villagers. I spoke the truth, the schemes are hardly reaching the villagers. She gave information about pension scheme, its benefits for the destitute, and told the villagers can participate in sapling plantation drive to know about benefits. Soon after she left sarpanch with other men came to my shop with country made fire arms and hit me on the right side of the head and injures my ear.” Karan Rajput filed a complaint in SP’s office.
