Mangalore: A senior citizen who tested positive for covid-19 dies on July 24. None of his family members or relatives came forward to collect his body due to social stigma caused by the covid-19 pandemic. People are becoming more unkind towards corona patients. Even their family members and relatives are not exempted. Even in this situation society is receiving kind services from professionals like doctors, police, nurse, health workers, and Asha workers. Some social workers across the country are helping to cremate abandoned bodies of covid-19.
The senior citizen Venugopal Rao lived in an old-age home. He was under the treatment of coronavirus in the hospital. When he died no one from his family came forward to collect his body from the hospital. When an ambulance driver, Mohammed Asif came to know about this tragic death, he didn’t think twice and went to the police station to obtain permission to conduct the last rites. After claiming the body from the hospital he cremated it according to Hindu rituals with the help of his friends on Thursday. Doctors, nurses, and cops appreciated the kind gesture of Mangalore based corona warrior, Mohammed Asif.
