Sri Lanka’s former president and Sri Lanka Party (SLPP) leader Mahindra Rajapaka( 74 year) was sworn on Sunday as the country’s new prime minister at a historic Buddhist temple. He was administered the oath of office for the ninth parliament by the president Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the sacred Rajamaha Viharaya in Kelaniya, a north Colombo suburb. The president is the younger brother of the prime minister. The ruling party achieved two-thirds majority in the August 5 general election.
