10 infants die in Maharashtra hospital fire
Mumbai: 17 infants were admitted at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the 4-storeyed hospital in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district, about 99 km from Mumbai. 10 babies died out when fire broke out. Duty nurses first noticed the smoke coming from the neonatal care unit and raised alarm.
Out of which seven of them are rescued. Infants in the outbound ward could not be rushed out in time. The smoke led to the babies suffocating. Short circuit is suspected. The CM has ordered a probe of the entire incident. The government has ordered Rs 5 lakh compensation to the family.
