Bastar village in Chattisgarh witnessed an unusual wedding ceremony of a man marrying two women in the same mandap, with their consent. The groom Chandu said “I used to like both of them. And they also liked me. We married consensually in front of all the villagers. But the family of one of the bride was absent in the ceremony.”
The bides are Hasina (19 years), Sundari (21 years) both have passed 12 board exams. Marrying two persons is a crime in the Hindu marriage act. No case has been registered against this marriage.
