Probably first of its kind, Minister for Mines & Geology Shri Murugesh R Nirani paid obeisance to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi before occupying his chair after the puja ceremony.
Soon after puja was performed at his office 343, located at third floor of Vikasa Soudha, the Preist asked Mr Nirani to occupy the chair reserved for him as the time was auspicious.
Instead, the minister chose to go three floor down to pay floral tributes to Mahatma. Once after this, he occupied the chair reserved for him
in his chamber. “I always wanted to pray to Mahatma before getting into my office officially,” he said.
Officers and staff posted at Vidhana & Vikasa soudha for long time maintained that ever since Mahatma’s statue was installed here no other minister in any government has prayed to the idol as did by Mr Nirani.
Clearly, Mr Nirani has set a precedent by taking charge as minister by paying tributes to the Mahatma.
