The West Division police of upparpet police on Tuesday arrested a 30 year old conman who posing as gunman of MLA Cheated a person from Davanagere promising job in city armed reserve on Bengaluru.
The accused has been identified as,Narayana Ramachandra Hedge,30 years old a resident of Sirsi.
Senior officer,told media persons,based on a complaint the upparpet police inspector, Shivaswamy CB and his team caught a fake gun man with fake gun a gun lighter from his possession.
During investigation it was found that,Narayana befriended the victim on social media introducing himself as gunman of Dharwad MLA and offered him to get a job in City armed Reserve police force.
The victim who checked the profile of Narayana to find him posing in Safari suit dress usually used by security personal posing in front of police vehicles and District Armed Reserve offices.
Following the invitation Narayana went to meet the accused in Davanagere and the duo had drinks and dinner before heading to Bengaluru with the cash and documents of the victim.
On reaching Bengaluru the victim grew suspecious about his behaviour and complained to the police.
Based on the complaint the police arrested Narayana and recovered a lighter gun from him, which he was using as genuine weapon to impress the victim.
A detailed investigation by the team led the accused to confess the crime and he revealed that he had demanded RS.30,000 from the victim and taken Rs.12,000 as advance from him.
We are verifying the criminal background of the accused to ascertain whether he had cheated other persons using similar modus operandi a case has been registered in upparpet police station and further investigation is on.
Finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner, Kamal Pant,has appreciated, Addl CP West,Soumendhu Mukherjee,DCP West,Dr Sanjeev M Patil,ACP P Ravi,PI,Shivaswamy CB and his team for nabbing the fake gun man who was cheating people in the pretext of getting jobs and for the exemplary work done by them a suitable reward will be given to the team he added.
