BJP leaders ignored pressure suffered by its own party MP, Mohan Delkar and let him die, claims Congress leader Sachin Sawant
Congress leader Sachin Sawant claimed that Mohan Delkar took his life due to persecution by BJP leaders and central officials. Delkar has complained that they were trying to entangle him in crimes that he had no connection with. He was even threatened with dire consequences and was told that his family will be put in jail. He had two options before him, either to resign from the parliament or commit suicide.
The officials include administrator of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli Praful Kheda Patel and several administrative officers. Sachin Sawant termed minister’s death as ‘tragedy for democracy’. He wrote letters to Modi. Om Birla, Bhupendra Yadav and Amit Shah about the harassments he was facing. These leaders chose to ignore his letters deliberately, Sawant said. Sawant said, Delkar told the privileges committee of the Lok Sabha of the “pressure” he was under that he had two options beore him, either to resign from the parliament or commit suicide.
Delkar(58), a seven time MP committed suicide in a hotel in Marine Drive area of south Mumbai on February 22. Police registered FIR against Praful Kheda Patel for alleged abetment of suicide.
