There is no match in BJP to Nehru family’s contributions: D K Shivakumar
“The service, sacrifice, and development initiatives carried out by the Nehru family for our nation find no match in BJP. Still, the efforts being made by C T Ravi to damage their reputation with his statements reflect the BJP’s principles”, KPCC President, D K Shivakumar mentioned in a recent statement.
D K Shivakumar, speaking to the media on Thursday at the residence of Vidhan Sabha Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah, said:
“C.T. Ravi served as the Minister of Kannada and Culture for some time. Not just a legislator, he is currently the National General Secretary of the ruling party. His statements reflect the culture/attitude of the party he belongs to. He is making failed attempts to leave bad impressions in people’s minds about Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi. Post-independence, and for many years after, the service, sacrifice, and guidance provided to our nation by the Nehru family is unmatched by anyone in the BJP.
The Nehru family has sacrificed/donated their wealth for the nation. BJP does not know about this. In fact, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have lost their lives in service of the nation. Sonia Gandhi, who despite being invited by then-President Abdul Kalam to take the post of the Prime Minister twice, chose to give up the position to Dr. Manmohan Singh, for his expertise in financial affairs. Let the BJP leaders show any sacrifice of this extent done by them. Instead of that, they talk about hookah bars. If they want to know who suggested naming the canteen after Indira Gandhi, they can ask the person who is part of their cabinet. Only after that person suggested the name, and it was signed off by all the legislators in the party, it was named.
We may not agree with the Tamil Nadu government. Yet we are committed to the state’s interests. Basavaraj Bommai is a former Irrigation Minister and the current Chief Minister. He has clearly stated that the Mekedatu Dam is strictly a drinking water project. I have recently started the same. For drinking water, we must not need to ask permission from anybody. It has been decided that we should receive 8 tmc of water. This allocation of drinking water will not be used for even 1 acre of irrigation in my state, in any constituency. For this project we just need permission from the Environment Ministry, we don’t even need financial assistance from anyone. Therefore, we stand in full support of Bommai’s statements. Let them start the work immediately, acquire the land, conduct the pooja/rituals for the land, and start working on the project. Let them start to fix the water shortage project of the 1.25 Crore people of Bengaluru.”
Birthday wishes for Siddaramiah:
“Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is 74 years old, is entering his 75th year and I have come with all our leaders to greet him. May the Lord give him more power. I wish the people of the land bestow him with their love and blessings.”
