Home Ministry blacklists 2,550 foreign Tablighi Jamaat members
New Delhi : Government sources said on Thursday that Government of India blacklisted 2,200 foreign nationals and banned them not to enter India for 10 years who were staying in India violating visa rules. These foreigners were involved in Tablighi activities and went to Delhi ’s Nizamuddin Markaz, which became the major source of spreading Covid-19. Earlier the home ministry had said 2,100 foreigners came to India for activities of the organisation since January. 824 of them, as on March 21, were dispersed in different parts of the country,216 of them were staying at Nizamuddin Markaz. Rest could have left the country before the lockdown on March 25.
A large number of Indian Tablighi Jamaat workers participated in the activities of the organization in different parts of the country. Details of 824 foreigners were shared on march 21 with the state police forces for identifying them, getting them medically screened and quarantining them. The Home ministry had sent an advisory to chief Secretaries and DGP s of all states , as well CP Delhi, on this issue.
