It has been decided in the meeting chaired by CM on Monday that travelers coming from Kerala must mandatory undergo one week institutional quarantine, said Health and Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar.

Speaking to the media he said guidelines for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Charamarajanagar is yet to be discussed. I will discuss with CM regarding this. People entering border districts need be under surveillance to check the spread of infection, minister said.

Large number of people travel to bordering districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi from Kerala every day for education, treatment, livelihood and various other activities. We will also release guidelines for mandatory institutional quarantine of travellers coming through train and flight, said minister.

32 students are infected with Covid in a college in KGF. All of them are Kerala returnees. I will visit the college and take action against the college management. Covid has been brought under control to 700-800 cases per day from as high as 50,000 cases per day. Govt has worked hard to mitigate the pandemic, minister said.

Govt has the dual responsibility of protecting children and also securing their future. School must follow covid guidelines. If positivity increases above 2% school will be shut and management will be subjected to disciplinary action, warned the minister.

Government does not want to restrict public gatherings and functions but we need to consider the safety of people. We will lift restrictions at an appropriate time based on the suggestions of TAC. CM will take a  decision considering all the aspects, said Minister.
