Kerala rejects Mandya jaggery

After Gujarat rejected purchase of Mandya  jaggery over adulteration, Kerala also stopped Mandya’s jiggery citing the product is of poor quality and chemical in jaggery. Kerala government said jaggery contains heavy content of sugar and chemicals.

Sources say Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh traders are making jaggery with poor quality and selling in the name of Mandya jaggery. People add substandard jiggery and sugar to increase the weight of the product and sell it as Mandya jaggery.
