1. Today The Supreme Court said that High Courts while passing orders should ensure that it is done by way of written orders and judgments and not by way of oral directions.

2. Today VK Saksena has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of boutique Intellectual Property and Technology firm Inttl Advocare.

3. Today The West Bengal government has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court order which called for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into cases of murder and crimes against women that allegedly took place during post-poll violence in the State.

4. Today The Delhi High Court issued notice to the Central government on a plea filed by Vasant Vihar Welfare Association seeking removal of Afghan refugees who have been protesting outside the office of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

8. Today the Allahabad High Court observed that while denying bail to one Javed who was charged for offences under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act in Uttar Pradesh, Cow is part and parcel of the culture of India and should be declared national animal.

Yesterday The Madras High Court quashed a case registered under the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act, 1997 in 2020 in connection with the ₹ 91,000 crore IL&FS scam, although the Court clarified that it is not commenting on SFIO probe underway or giving the alleged perpetrators a clean chit. 

10. Today The Karnataka High Court reserved its judgment in a plea seeking directions to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev’s Isha Foundation to not collect funds from the public for its Cauvery Calling project.

11. Today The Delhi High Court directed counsel for the Central government to seek instructions on a petition challenging the non-appointment of the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha for a period of 830 days.

12. Today Mumbai Sessions Court said while granting bail to a Navy personnel accused of rape because a merely condom was found at crime scene would not be sufficient to conclude that the sexual intercourse between the accused and victim was consensual.

13. Today The Bombay High Court stayed the summons issued by a Magistrate Court in a criminal defamation complaint filed against authors of the novel ‘The Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ on which the film Gangubai Kathiawadi is based. 

14. Yesterday The Bombay High Court reserved its verdict in the petition filed by Kangana Ranaut challenging the criminal defamation proceedings initiated by the Metropolitan Magistrate at Andheri, Mumbai on the complaint filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Today The Central government has asserted before the Delhi High Court that the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (IT Rules, 2021) is well within the scope of the Information Technology Act (IT Act), 2000, that it is does not infringe any fundamental rights and that there is little evidence to show that they have had a chilling effect on the right to freedom of speech.

16. Today The Allahabad High Court has refused to grant any interim relief against release of Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bollywood film ‘Chehre’ in a plea alleging copyright infringement.

19. Yesterday The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh took strong exception to the conduct of the husband and his relative in refusing to produce an infant child before the Court in a Habeas Corpus petition filed by the mother of the child. 

20. Yesterday The Delhi High Court asked the Delhi government to clear the pending fees of government lawyers that became due six months ago. 

21. Today The Kerala High Court held that criminal antecedents of a person cannot be criteria when it comes to organ donation and the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994 do not make any such distinction against persons with criminal record.

22. Today A Delhi Court has recommended the extradition of an Indian national declared as a “fugitive criminal” for rash and negligent driving resulting in the death of a pedestrian in Australia in 2008.

23. Yesterday The Karnataka High Court quashed an order passed by the officials of Employees State Insurance Corporation Medical College and Hospital (ESIC hospital), Kalaburagi which denied maternity leave to a doctor employed by the hospital.

35. Today The Kerala High Court extended the term of the present Judicial Members of the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) by another three weeks, during which time the Court expects the newly appointed Chairman of the Tribunal to make fresh appointments.
