Miscreants poisons ‘Hagalu Rani ‘ a rare species tree

TUMKUR : Some miscreants in Chikkanayakana hally  drilled holes in the rare species of  20  year old tree called ‘ Hagalu Rani ‘ in kannada, and  injected mercury into the tree. The tree is planted in the Pre-university  college campus . The injected  mercury dries the tree  gradually  in 1 -2 months. Then the tree can be cut into pieces . The miscreants wants to eliminate this rare species  from the habitat.

Mallikarjun Bhattarahally, president of Lancha mukta Karnataka Nirmana Vedike , said “  locals informed about this criminal act. I personally  visited the P.U college campus and noticed the mercury injected holes. We informed this act to forest officials and appealed them to save the tree  ”.
