Young girl’s mark at Kambala creates excitement and curiosity among Kambala enthsiasts

Chaitra Bhat, a class 6 student of Kalthodu school in Bollampalli village, marked her appearance at Jodukare Kambala at Karkala with buffalos. Kambala enthusiasts were excited and also curious to know that if this girl could be a Kambala racer in future. She says she is happy to be in Kambalas  and dreams of becoming a Kambala racer in the future. Gunpal Kadamba, convener of Kambala conservation, monitoring and training academy acknowledged that Chaitra Bhat has re-written history. And said in future his academy will train women to participate in Kambala race. Chaitra is fond of cattle since her childhood, used to bath the buffalos, feeding them every day. Her father Parameshwar Bhat is an agriculturist and also has been raising Kambala buffalos. His buffalos raced at Karkala under Chaitra’s ownership.
